Artefacts at 190 Ottley Drive, ATL

When David Minnix offered us another opportunity for filling a building space, we were very pleased to accept the challenge of bringing to the Indie Studios Community some of our Artefacts that would reflect our transhumanist experience.

The 44 Artefacts installed at 190 Ottley Drive reflect a “Migration Myth,” an experience of discovery and consideration of our ancient, inherited, migrant experience. Art Vandenberg, along with Taylor 72151 (a lifelong collaborator) issued a book, “Migration Myth. transiting cultural space-time in early transhumanist era” that further describes the 44 Artefacts Installed at Indie Studios, 190 Ottley Drive, Atlanta. Nth Derivatives — Advanced Method

The above image (Migration Myth — Quantum Quantum States Map, 2021) shows 1,024 “quantum” generated from the Artefacts of 190 Ottley Drive. These quantum are presented in 41 books of the Nth Derivatives — Chapbooks of the Migration Myth series. Each quantum is also processed to create “manifolds.” We describe this process of Quanta & Manifolds as follows:

We, the artist/authors Art Vandenberg & Taylor 72151, have applied an advanced method to Nth Derivatives:

Whereas:

•  Nth-Derivatives seeks higher order derivatives of the function of being.

•  Art-making is a first derivative of the function of being.

•  Photo documentation of art is a second derivative.

•  Processing photo documentation into a photo montage explores higher order Nth derivatives.

Therefore, one might establish a quantum of any artefact. To wit, by taking a sample, making three additional copies, and with those 3 copies do following: Flip one horizontally, flip a second vertically, and flip a third both horizontally AND vertically. Combining these three copies with the original along their obviously symmetrical (reflected) edges, you have a quantum.

This quantum can combine symmetrically with any numbers of itself. The artist/authors denote these multiple quantum (plural is quanta) as a manifold. This two-dimensional manifold may be extended infinitely across a topological space. It might serve as a tipi, it might serve as light sail fabric, it might serve as parfleche for gifting.

The #TipisEight-3(Manifold) manifolds that follow are all simple, being three quantum across, by four vertically. If only the artist/authors had the expanse of space to which they are accustomed, each manifold space would be even greater — maybe even infinite.

If only the artist/authors and #TipisEight-3(Manifold) had the time (or patience), the  number of manifolds would be infinite as well. Manifold manifolds!
